Le «Kill Switch» c’est le gros bouton rouge sur lequel on appuie pour tout arrêter. En France on appel ça un «coupe circuit», on l’utilise notamment sur les moteurs de bateaux, les voitures de rallyes  les grues etc …

Aux Etats Unis, les vols de téléphones portables représentent 40% de l’ensemble des vols, en France on laisse l’iPhone dans la poche lorsque l’on est dans les transports en commun.

C’est pour cela que les grands constructeurs et Opérateurs Américains se sont mis d’accord pour qu’à partir de Juillet 2015, tous les portables  seront équipé d’une fonction (comme sur l’iPhone) pour désactiver et effacer le contenu du tel et ainsi le rendre inutilisable.
Ils appellent ça la fonction «Kill Switch».

C'est ce que propose l'équipementier automobile Visteon lors du Consumer Electronic Show de Las Vegas. Nos confrères d'Engadget ont pu "expérimenter" un objet qui semble avoir trouvé une nouvelle place d'adoption !

Vu le nombre d'applications qui débarquent chaque jour sur l'AppStore pour une utilisation particulière en voiture, il n'est pas si surprenant que ça d'imaginer un iPad à la place de toutes les commandes habituelles de votre tableau de bord.

Comme le montre la vidéo publiée par Engadget, l'iPad pourrait aussi bien vous fournir les informations utiles concernant l'état de votre véhicule, que contrôler le système de chauffage du véhicule, l'inclinaison des sièges, des rétroviseurs, donner accès au GPS, faire office d'autoradio... Bon, pour l'option allume-cigare, ça semble rapé, faut pas pousser non plus !

Engadget s'attend à voir les premiers véhicules équipés de la sorte à partir de l'année prochaine. Alors, impatient ?

Wayne Brady Knows Gaming, and Wii Party U

The host of the long-running TV game show, Let's Make a Deal, is bringing his brand of humor to Nintendo. Wayne Brady partnered with the Japanese game maker on Wii Party U, the latest family cooperative experience for Nintendo's new Wii U console. The comedian talked about his own gaming cred in this exclusive interview from the set of the Nintendo shoot for a series of viral videos.

What are you doing with Nintendo?

I shot a series of online vignettes for Nintendo, which I have to say as a gamer it probably doesn't get any better than that. Some of my best memories as a kid are wrapped up in Nintendo, which is cool and kind of sad because a lot of my great memories are gaming memories. But they asked me to come and be a part of these vignettes,livegameworld which talk about the Wii U and the Party games. I got to play this version of Wii Party U before anyone else. I get to play this at home. True, I'm playing it by myself with three different controllers and it's meant for friends, but it's cool. I still have found a way to make it work, and the best part is I always win.

What video games did you play growing up as a kid?

I was a huge, huge Super Nintendo guy. Even the original NES, the very first Mario Bros., that's what got me hooked on gaming. I wasn't a Donkey Kong person. I'd play Pac Man and Galaga when I went to the bowling alley with my parents maybe, but at home, it was Super Mario Bros., Double Dragon, Spy Hunter, Burger Time and 1942, and that was the early version of that. I got into all the other systems and the fighting games. Capcom was a favorite of mine, but it was mostly Nintendo games, because that's all we had growing up was a Nintendo. I pretty much rocked that since I was 14.

What's a favorite Nintendo memory?

Favorite Nintendo memory of all time is when I beat Super Mario Bros. by myself. There was no one else in the room and you have to remember this was in 1989. It was my senior year in high school. Our technology wasn't as developed, so I took a Polaroid of the screen to prove to everyone at school that I beat it. It just shows where I was at the time, where I took a picture of my screen and shoved it into every senior's face when I beat Super Mario Bros., and they were like, "Good job, Wayne."

What are your thoughts on how far video games have come since then?

We don't have enough time to talk about how amazing I find the field of video games right now. To go from a lot of the side-scrolling images in games to where the standard is now to have crisp, real-life, interactive 3D. With the latest Grand Theft Auto,linker Gateway 3ds the fact that I can download an app and interact with my dog in the game is ridiculous. I just turned 41, and I've been gaming since I was 12. I had a Collecovision and we also had the Tandy Radio Shack TRS. They made a computer and we played it at school. My generation, everyone who's maybe 38 and up, we're that first generation of people that grew up with video games. Gaming is now a part of our lives. They're doing this amazing stuff with gaming now. I can't wait to see where we are in 10 years, in 20 years.

When I'm 70, I've got a plan. When I'm not touring the country like Bill Cosby still tours and he's 80-something, I'm going to come home and attach myself to my docking station that Nintendo would have invented, and you attach it to all of your localized points and it's like The Matrix. It puts you in the game. You have a unit at home that puts you in the game and I can live most of my life at that point in the game with super powers and a fancy car and a hot super hero girlfriend. It sounds like I'm a nerd who is hopeful,Gateway 3DS but I'm really a nerd who knows the future. That's going to happen. Video games are the future.

What are the Best Android Emulators

Why do we upgrade every two years to the newest Samsung or HTC Android phone? So we can play decades-old video games on-the-go, of course! Android might be second banana when it comes to most mobile developers, but the platform still has a ton of great apps. Last time, I took a look at the best RPGs on Android, so this time I'm changing direction and looking at the best emulators.

I'll be keeping this list down to a certain number of popular old platforms, otherwise you'd be reading all day: Atari 2600, Arcades, NES, Super NES, Master System, Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, Game Boy,gateway3ds and Game Boy Advance. I've avoided systems whose games are available on current platforms or systems that won't give you the best experience when played on your mid-range smartphone.

If you're keeping up your due diligence like a good citizen, that means you own absolutely every single game that you're emulating, right? Good. Let's begin.

Atari 2600 - 2600.emu ($2.99)

I don't feel the need to go back this far, but some people like Jaz do, so the Atari 2600 is the first up. 2600.emu is the first emulator on this list developed by Robert Broglia. He's made emulators for pretty much everything and he doesn't charge too much for each one. 2600.emu uses on-screen touch controls like most Android emulators, but it also retains support for Bluetooth and USB gamepads.
Even Nintendo Wii controllers are supported if you're using Android 4.1 or lower!

Ataroid is a free alternative, but it's not on Google Play and it hasn't been updated for almost two years now.

Arcade - MAME4Droid (Free)

Like it says on the tin, this is an Android version of the popular MAME arcade system emulator. There's actually two versions of MAME4droid on the Google Play store; this version supports more games and more games is always better, right? You can choose to play your games upright like an arcade cabinet or in landscape mode with a touch-control overlay. The emulator even supports light gun games in its own touch-screen fashion.

NES - NES.emu ($3.99)

Yep, this is another Robert Broglia jam, emulating games that ran on the Nintendo's first foray into the gaming industry: the Nintendo Entertainment System. Like 2600.emu, this emulator features save-states, Bluetooth and USB gamepad support,mainerater and dual-orientation options for touch-screen controls.
Alternative options in this category include Nostalgia.NES, which includes a wicked rewind feature, or Nesoid, which is free but hasn't been updated in more than a year...

Un support iPhone pour l’avion

Dans la série des Do it yourself, voici un petit support pour iPhone qui n'est ni très joli, ni très difficile à réaliser mais qui après tout, pourra rendre quelques services à ceux qui prennent l'avion régulièrement ! Il s'agit tout simplement de plier et de correctement déchirer... la poche en papier fournie pour chacun des passagers en cas d'accident digestif. Pas besoin de vous faire un dessin, hein ?

Apple continue sa série de spots publicitaires basés sur le slogan "si vous n'avez pas d'iPhone... Vous n'avez pas d'iPhone". Après avoir mis en avant l'App Store, l'application iBooks ou iPod, c'est au tour du Game Center d'être sous les projecteurs dans cette nouvelle publicité.

Apple rachète Siri, un assistant vocal

"iPhone, réserve moi une table pour deux ce soir à 21 heures"... Apple vient de racheter une start-up californienne du nom de Siri, qui édite un assistant personnel fonctionnant en recherche vocale, proposé sous la forme d'une application iPhone gratuite.

L'idée, toute simple, est de permettre à l'utilisateur de ne pas avoir à lancer un service spécifique pour effectuer certaines tâches telles que trouver un restaurant, commander un taxi, etc. Capable de tirer parti des informations émanant du GPS de l'iPhone, Siri sait reconnaitre la requête prononcée par l'utilisateur et enrichit automatiquement cette dernière des informations contextuelles disponibles pour automatiquement interroger le service adéquat. Aux Etats-Unis, Siri fonctionne en adéquation avec certains services tels qu'OpenTable (restaurants) ou Google Maps. Autrement dit, il suffit de demander "indique moi le chemin vers le plus proche café" pour que s'affiche une carte Google Maps enrichie de l'itinéraire demandé.

L'intérêt pour Apple ? Ici, il s'agit peut-être tout simplement de proposer une alternative aux services proposés par Google, qui élabore lui aussi des modules de reconnaissance vocale. L'application interroge en effet automatiquement des services tiers, et absout l'utilisateur du besoin de lancer un moteur de recherche particulier.

Comme souvent, Apple n'a pas commenté cette acquisition, dont le montant n'a pas été révélé. On sait toutefois que Siri avait récemment levé 24 millions de dollars pour financer son développement.

Apple Store fermé, nouveautés en vue

Les Apple Store, boutiques en ligne afférentes à chacune des déclinaisons locales de sites d'Apple dans le monde, viennent de baisser rideau, le temps, sans doute de pouvoir procéder à l'intégration des nouveautés annoncées lors de la conférence tenue par Steve Jobs ce soir, à 19h heure française.

Selon le Wall Street Journal, AT&T pourrait perdre l’exclusivité de la commercialisation de l'iPhone aux Etats-Unis.

Apple lancerait début 2011 un nouveau modèle, basé sur le design de l'iPhone 4, mais embarquant une technologie de communication utilisée par Verizon (CDMA ou LTE). La fin de cette exclusivité permettrait à l'iPhone de connaitre une diffusion plus large, sans être limité à AT&T.

La logique voudrait donc que l'iPhone 5 (et ses possible variantes) soit disponible chez les deux opérateurs lors de sa sortie, si cette première rumeur se confirme.
